Finally ...... One paper is out!

Today I finished drafting my first paper!

Fluorescence spectroscopy combined with chemometrics as a tool to study the changes in Jordanian virgin olive oil throughout the olive fruit harvesting season

Of course, I drafted it, and sent it over to my professor, for reviewing and doing the actual publishing. This project started in October 2010, it took me so much time to dig deep inside the mountains of data I got, and come up with a logical explanation to what happened with the "crazy" samples I've got, and finally wrap it up in a publishable paper, and i regret every second I lost (which is basically one a half years) before finishing it. I'm so proud of myself nothing can knock my self-esteem down! :D

The thing is, today i consider myself a contributor to the scientific community, it's nothing even close to the discoveries and creations the science is making these days, it's like in the sixties, when NASA landed on the moon, and i would come up an say, hey there is a moon orbiting our planet! I know it's not much, but to me it is, every road starts with a step, either small or huge, and the first step always counts, this is one of the first few steps i made, this is a step I've always been afraid to do, and it's been done.

This paper is fully my baby right from step one, I designed the experiment, performed the procedures, got my hands dirty extracting the oil, slept in the laboratory for countless cold nights doing the measurements, analyzed and re-analyzed the data, and finally I got to draft it up all on my own.

Throughout all of the time I've been working on it, I got so many ups and downs, regrets, depressions, I just lost count. Nevertheless, it's been an experience I won't forget, the feeling of actually doing something productive, or as I like to call it, taking one more step toward my dream, is just priceless.

Today, I'm actually happy! My next move, is drafting the second paper, until then, have a good everybody ... :)
